SYNOPSIS |
The organization where I worked aimed at the salvation of the poor that lived in what is called the Third World. It was staffed with roughly ten thousands individuals, because poverty is not fought with crumbs. Here lived a curious race of people, that had as a common language, economics.
We were the new apostles, modern mandarins, that kept the Gospel of twentieth century, written by the professor of MIT, Paul Samuelson, underarm. Along with other things, the "Our Father" included also, for us, the words "profit" and "privatization". And our life was yellow because it was soaked from the colour of domination.
"Meres San Ki Aftes" do not simply constitute a suspenseful political thriller nor a novel noir. It constitutes, simultaneously, an expose, through sinking in the deep core, inside the operation of institutions and persons that promote economic growth.
A humanitarian charge at social structures. An imaginative regression from the tragic element to the comic.
A romantic manifesto.
